14 Super Gullah Geechie Ways to live through Quarantine (+7 Bonus Steps)
You hear the word “quarantine” and automatically hear the long list of things we’re not allowed to do these days. But perhaps you should think of all the lessons your elder family members talked about back in the good old days that prove valuable opportunities this slower lifestyle offers you.
As COVID-19 social distancing and self-quarantining continue for most of Charleston’s Holy City and all of America, some of us may be going stir crazy not able to go and do the things we’re used to. Instead of sitting around worrying about coronavirus or feeling lonely, use your downtime to learn new skills, love on yourself and pamper yourself to a great degree, and reconnect with what makes you truly happy. Just remember: It’s called downtime for a reason. Make your wishes in the spiritual world and then see them as the heavens download your spiritual wishes into your inner-Chie. Now is the time to relax, but when you’ve been cooped up for weeks, and still can’t hit the malls, shopping stores or movie theaters, how can you spend your time?
There are a lot of options out there when truly embracing the spirit of the Gullah Geechie.
After weeks of coronavirus quarantine, shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders, it’s no wonder millions of people are looking for an end in sight. This question of when life can go back to normal is on countless minds as countries, states and cities shift to indoor living to help slow the spread of COVID-19, (also known as “Rev 9” for Revelations Chapter 9). Some of us are getting restless, imagining the parties we’ll throw and places we’ll travel, or think about the people we’ll hug when seeing them again for the first time.
So what is there to do- when you’re sitting at home, peering through your window, thinking about life that once was? Binge watching Netflix and scrolling through social media is not a great remedy for this period of time and your physical, mental and spiritual health… so as we adjust to this new reality, here are a few ideas of what you can do to keep busy and keep to a routine while you’re under the governments forced quarantine.
Before we dive in fully, ask yourself these Three Questions before Starting the Day:
Get a piece of paper and write your answers down
- What are the 3 things you want to accomplish by the end of the day?
- What are the 2 things that make you happy today?
- Who should you call or text to check on?
As humans, emotional health is an essential part of our overall well-being
So, don’t see this list as pressure or guilt to be productive every single moment but simply some ideas of things to do to get you through this tough time with at least part of your sanity intact. But then the question is what truly is sanity…

7. Play Games: Bible, Board, Card Games Or Any Other Kind
Turn off the Switch, XBox, PS4, iPads and dig out one of the board games that are stashed in the hall closet. Play and see if you can beat your family at favorite Bible Stories, Characters or what’s your favorite Chapters and Verses, Trivial Pursuit, or how about an epic game of Monopoly or Risk, scrabble or how about a game of chess? There’s no need to play the short versions since we all have hours to kill.
8. Pen In a Journal
Sitting at home binge watching Tiger King on Netflix may not feel like you’re doing much, but guess what? You’re actually living through a major historical event that people will learn and talk about for generations after this is all over. How will you remember these times and how will you be remembered during these times? Making a decision to write a journal will help you not just preserve your memories but will also help you process your feelings about this time that manages to feel simultaneously terrifying and immensely boring yet absolutely exhilarating to others like me, Gullah Jac.
9. Create Some Quarantine Art
You can’t use up creativity; the more you use, the more you have. Focus, meditate and channel your feelings by doing something creative. Painting is a great way to express yourself, learn a new skill, and help you see ordinary things (like everything in your house you’ve been staring at for weeks) in a whole new way, persepective is key.
10. Try A New Art in the Bedroom
Did I just say that? Yeah, I did. Nothing relieves stress and adds some fun like some good sex and thanks to the quarantine, you don’t have to resort to quickies to get your fix. Not to mention that sex can be great exercise (I am sure you know that already so work very hard and sweat it out)! Use this time to try out new positions and role play. Although parents with children home may find this a little more challenging, but the greater the challenge the Bigger the Adventure and the Bigger the Adventure, the Bigger the Fun! So Go Hard While Your Stuck at Home!
11. Go For a Deep Walk Or Run
In most places, unless you are under a strict stay-indoors mandate, you are still allowed to go outside for exercise while still following self-quarantining rules, or find me Gullah Jac, and I’ll show you the secret portals the local authorities are unable to see (J),,, (Not in groups and while staying at least six feet away from others, of course, “unless your full-blooded Gullah your blood is special”) This is something you should take advantage of daily as exercise and sunshine are two of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health to stay fully healthy. Mother Nature is one of the wonderful things that will never be cancelled out!
12. Taking Time to Work Out
It’s totally possible to work on your physical fitness while stuck inside. Like I said earlier, some stay-at-home order say it’s fine to go running or biking in your neighborhood, but if you can’t go out, there are plenty of exciting ways to stay motivated and moving while at home.
A good starting place: Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has posted his famous home workout program online for free but he was only an actor pretending to be a superman. Gullah Jac is that man written about before this time and now he stands alive and his Gullah workout programming is ranked far higher than one of America’s super idols, Deut 7:6 KJV.
But if you were already paying to workout somewhere, look to its website and social media accounts. Also, small local gyms are now offering versions of their classes through social media or their own platforms. Or simply follow Gullah Jac and his Internal External Life Changing Transformation and Conversion of the Core Inner Spiritual Strength Gullah Exercise that was taught to Gullah Jac by Jesus Christ himself as he taught from personal experience written in the book of Luke 22:43 KJV. Its hot, its hard but the holy angels guarantee your increase.
13. Get Your Children and Your Kids Engaged
With most schools shut down and children and kids turning to online lessons, it’s obvious that little ones are also learning to adjust to this new normal. Luckily, they’re plenty of fun and exciting activities for parents to do with their children and kids — and with digital adventures, children and kids can get lost on their own. Play some travel inspired games to help them learn about landmarks or set them loose in a virtual children’s museum to let their imaginations run wild.
14. You’re Helping the Community by Staying Home
By staying home, you’re helping to contain the spread of the coronavirus and protecting yourself as well as allowing the powers to be effectively carry out their plans, so make sure you are prayed up and fully covered with your armor of God, you are going to need it. Isolation and quarantine are big factors in terms of starving out the disease is what you are told but the human body has never failed us, because God does not make mistakes. Reducing the movement of people has a great effect in reducing those getting infected but truth be told, the only protection is, The Covering of the Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is also a collective effort of everyone in the United States to know the promise of the Four Hundred Year Curse of affliction, evil treatment and slavery began in 1619 VA and it just ended 2019, so now is the time of Redemption for a certain group of people, Genesis 15:13 KJV and Acts 7:6.
While this may be difficult and stressful, preventing the spread is necessary and God is the only Overseer and He has total control over that and He is the only way we can trully go back to our perceived way of normal.
